Species: Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Grayling , Chub
Our second day on the river Bistra. In the morning we enjoyed the excellent sight fishing. We caught a lot of nice grayling and brown trout. However, the highlight was Andy's trophy chub. In the afternoon we had some storm so we visited the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra, where we were able to see the permanent exhibition of the fisheries in Slovenian. When the rain stopped we went back to the river and managed to catch some good fish to the end of the day.

Bistra river (Angling Club Vrhnika)
The rivers Bistra and Ljubija slowly meander through the outskirts of the Ljubljana Marshes up to their outflow into the Ljubljanica. They are typical karst rivers with crystal clear water which is slowly flowing from bend to bend. The Ljubija springs in Verd (Vrhnika), while the Bistra originates in the city next to the famous Carthusian monastery. Despite the short riverbed the fishermen consider them real hidden jewels. Fly fishing in these rivers is certainly not one of the easier ones; a patient fisherman with some knowledge can be richly rewarded. Due to the configuration of the channel, the fish are in excellent condition to grow to trophy size. The both rivers are dominated by beautiful brown trouts, graylings and rare wild rainbow trouts.
