Type of Water: Freshwater
Species: Brown trout, Whitefish, Pike
Weather has been cold around here lately, but not too cold to fish! The brown trout are just finishing up their spawn, so look for them in the tailouts of rifles that drop into the deep wintering holes. Fishing was good early on nymphing with eggs, small stoneflies, and pink worms. Then around 1pm a baetis hatch came about, and the fish started rising close to the banks in the flats. The fish were not picky as to size of the baetis, but more so presentation of the fly. A long leader 12-14ft with 1-4ft of 7x tippet was the key, to get a nice drift close to the bank. Overall a splendid day. Here are a few photos of fish I caught there this season, and seasons past in November.
