Type of Water: Freshwater
Species: Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Brook trout
I fished Sunday morning at Helton Creek. (I guide near Boone, NC as well as Florida's Everglades)The temperature was about 42° when I started and pretty much had the creek to myself. I take advantage of these kinds of days to explore stretches of water I've not yet fished.
I stopped at a fast riffle and swing a streamer through, had one chase it no strike. Switched to an indicator set up and quickly hooked a nice brown trout that was about 14". At the tail out I hooked and landed four rainbows to 13".
I moved to a different stretch downstream but the water was getting cloudy from last night's rain. Missed a couple fish and then called it day, half-day, if you will.
