This trip was with my awesome client Ryan from Potter County, Pa. Ryan is strictly a streamer fisherman and a fine one at that. So when I told Ryan about the high water conditions on the Little Juniata River in Central Pennsylvania he wasn't disappointed, he was in fact elated.
Ryan was using an Olive/black Sculpin pattern that he has had a lot of luck with catching big nasty Potter County Brown Trout on. I told Ryan about a big fish that rolled on my streamer a few weeks prior and he methodically starting working his Sculpin fly around the slack water edge of the fast run. In less than 5 minutes Ryan was hooked into a big wild Brown Trout. After a a brief fight we had his first gorgeous Little J Brown in the net.

In less than 5 minutes Ryan was hooked into a big wild Brown Trout. After a a brief fight we had his first gorgeous Little J Brown in the net.
After a few quick pictures we released the fish and continued to fish our way down river. A short time later Ryan was hooked up again and this time with one of the many chunky Rainbow Trout that inhabit the river system. I knew of another big fish that was in a particular shallow water riffle and I guided Ryan to the spot. Ryan was swinging his streamer towards the tailout of the run when I saw a lite colored flash behind his fly. Unnerved Ryan continue to strip his fly back in before the big hungry Brown Trout struck again and this time the fish was hooked up. What an incredible experience and we shared some "high fives" after bringing the beauty to the net.
Ryan continued fishing and caught several more impressive fish before calling it a day.
