Step 1
Wax the thread (so it doesn't rot).Start a little way behind the eye an work 1/3 of the way along the hook shank. At that point tie in a starling hackle by it's tip.
Step 2
Take the thread down to just before a point opposite the barb and return it to where you tied in the hackle. Remove hackle tip.
Step 3
Twist the hackle around the thread.
Step 4
Wind hackle and silk forward together to the original starting point. Trim out the excess hackle and whip finish.
