A big snack like this can sometimes be the only meal a brook trout trout will have in a period of two weeks in our rivers during the cold months of winter. Their metabolism being really slow in under zero temperatures. The smallest individuals of this order, the tiny black stones, are also the first to show up in the spring. The pattern presented here cover the common stonefly hatching later in the season at the nymph stage of their life. I called it the ETT for being an "easy to tye" fly. Spending a great deal of time on the water during the season, I prefer to tye quick patterns easily done under 10 minutes a fly. You can change the size and color to match the different families. Hope you will enjoy.
