WHY fishing in non–trout rivers?
The summer months in the Czechia are simply amazing, because the temperature is not too high, there are almost no mosquitoes and the fish take the fly very intensively. Spring and autumn are more suitable for catching trout and grayling, but besides these types of fish, which are traditional for fly fishing, there are also very interesting species such as chub, barbel, common nase and even some predators as walleye, perch and pike.

The 5# AFTM 9 feet rod with DP floating line, 6 ft tapered fluorocarbon leader and the 4X tippet. As the most suitable fly patterns I've chosen quite heavy imitations of cased caddis on long hooks num.10 and surface streamers for chub and asp on hooks num.6.
And FISHING itself!
Though the weather before noon was quite sunny and nice, afternoon came some clouds, very helpful for fish as well for me, because the sunlight blinds the fish hunting for insects and complicates for angler being unnoticed. That's why in the first half of a day I've caught just a dozen of smaller fish up to one pound in weight including some chubs, nase and roaches. However afternoon the fish weight became more worthy and finally the 4,5 pound chub took my streamer in the small pool under the weeping willow. After landing and releasing such a stubborn fish I continued casting with shaking hands to the similar pools in the shadow. Just before a sunset the strong bite almost pulled the rod out of my hands! At first I thought about one more chub, but after a long battle the spiny dorsal fin appeared on the surface! This is THE WALLEYE! Excellent catch!
CONCLUSION
Now is 12th of March, the season will start in a few days as the air and water temperature decrease rapidly every day. Come to Czechia, fellows, and try to catch something different! Believe me, almost all freshwater fish can be caught with fly!
