The fishing was great in September and continues to get better as October progresses. I was mainly fishing the park from islamorada during September with overall great action and steady catches.
The highlight of the month was participating at the prestigious Herman Lucerne championship out of Islamorada with my client Rob Talford. Our points were not enough to score for the awards but caught lots of fish during our practice and tournament days. Snook, trout, reds and tarpon were all around in good numbers. Most of our fishing was done on the push pole, sightfishing with plastic baits. We saw and caught some big reds while sight fishing on the skinny water as well and snook and trout. It was good to get on some good numbers of redfish tailing and waking.

Another highlight was the tripletail bite. They were almost everywhere around flamingo.
The bait is pushing down the coast and all the predators are following. Fishing is gonna get red hot as more bait pushes down south along the coast. Fall is also a favorite time of mine to sightfish for snook and reds in those shallow backwater bays that get just right once the big fall tides start to happen.
That’s all for now.
Fish hard, fish often!
