Excellent winter fly fishing conditions with warmer than average temps on the Roaring Fork have it fishing like it is already spring. Warmer conditions will mean a more active bite and better fishing. The fishing on the Fork is good right now and for the next couple months the Roaring Fork stands out as one of the areas most consistent fisheries for larger than average trout! Nymphing with Eggs, baetis and midge patterns fished deep are devastating browns, rainbows and whitefish. Flows on the Fork are good for wading and floating by raft is also great option.
The fishing is good from late morning on and is excellent all day if cloudy conditions persist. We are now seeing more rising fish in the slower pools, especially in the afternoon. Ver más...Report Date: March 8, 2015

The fishing on the Fork is good right now and for the next couple months the Roaring Fork stands out as one of the areas most consistent fisheries for larger than average trout! The fishing is good from late morning on and is excellent all day if cloudy conditions persist. We are now seeing more rising fish in the slower pools, especially in the afternoon. Several species of midges are hatching as well as BWO mayflies.This Gold Medal trout stream is still an option for float fishing with feeding trout spreading out of deep winter holes into riffles and deeper bank water. Expect good result with nymphs while streamers and dry flies will only work sporadically. Eggs are an important food source now as well. Our guides have been on the Fork most days and floating is the best option right now from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs while wade fishing from Basalt up to Aspen is very good! Fishing closures go into effect on spawning tributaries at Four Mile Creek and Three Mile Creek.
Guide Tip: Look for "green water" on the Fork this time of year. That is where the water is deep enough to hold lots of trout.
