The Sandhill River System is located 30 miles southeast of Cartwright, Labrador. The Sandhill has a robust run of atlantic salmon as well as brook trout and sea trout. The Sandhill River Lodge is a remote private lodge, owned by an enthusiastic group of Canadian and American fisherman. It is located 4 miles from the Labrador Sea, supplying our fisherman with a continual supply of bright salmon. The Lodge can accommodate 12 guests in comfortable semi-private rooms. We enjoy outstanding meals and all of the comforts of home. Though this is a private salmon fishing lodge, we often have room for guests and occasionally new owners.

Atlantic salmon
The Sandhill River is one of the best-kept secrets in Atlantic Salmon fishing. A week on the river is a wonderful experience, combining pristine wilderness with outstanding Salmon and sea-run trout fishing. The salmon run begins in mid-June and continues into August. The early fish are primarily female and can run up to 30 pounds. Later in the season the fish are mostly grilse, which average 5.2 pounds. Since we are close to the Labrador Sea, all of the fish are bright, fresh and are tremendous fighters. We fish the lower 4 miles of the Sandhill River and the lower reaches of a smaller river called the Northwest, where we have a comfortable cabin. Everyone has the chance to fish every pool on the river and to overnight on the Northwest.
